How does the system work?
  1. The floor and/or ambient sensor(s) sense a temperature below the set point(s).
  2. The thermostat switches the floor heating system on.

Floor heating systems do not take up any space. Rugs, furniture and carpets can be placed wherever desired.

  • It can be installed on most stable sub floors (wood, plaster and concrete).
  • under all floor coverings such as tiles, marble and laminate.

Dry floors are hygienic and easy to clean as the dust doesn’t ‘stick’ to the floor.
There is less air movement, hence less dust.
Wet floors in bathrooms will also dry much faster.

Lower the room thermostat by 2 degrees without losing the comfort feeling.
Uniform heat distribution allows for a lower thermostat setting without any loss of comfort. Electric floor heating systems are installed close to the floor surface to provide heat quickly. The systems are switched on when needed only. The programmable NRG-TEMP thermostat can learn when it needs to switch on to make the floor warm when needed.
Our self-regulating cable lowers its heat output automatically when it senses other heating sources e.g. sun shining on the floor near a window.

Insulation boards can reduce energy consumption by more than 20%: All RAYCHEM systems can be combined with an insulation layer for additional energy savings. Insulation boards shorten the heat-up time. And they avoid downward heat losses on insufficiently insulated subfloors e.g. in older buildings.

Electric floor heating systems are almost maintenance free as there are no moving parts. All RAYCHEM floor heating systems come with a 12 year Total Care Warranty . It can even be extended to 20 years when the system is installed by a Certified Pro installer .

T2Blue

  • T2Blue 10 W/m is a floor heating cable with constant power output of 10 W/m. It is a pre-terminated, dual conductor heater with a 2.5 m cold lead attached at one end.
  • T2Blue 20 W/m is a floor heating cable with constant power output of 20 W/m. It is a pre-terminated, dual conductor heater with a 2.5 m cold lead attached at one end.
  • T2Blue heating cables should be embedded in screed (50 mm).
  • T2Blue is the ideal floor heating system for installation in newly constructed buildings or renovation. This floor heating cable is typically applied in all new construction applications and for example in conservatories or cold rooms (refrigeration rooms).
  • T2Blue kits contain a digital electronic thermostat.
  • T2Blue comes in a handy installer friendly box containing some glue sticks for easy fixing to the subfloor and a conduit in which to install the sensor.

Charters Ascot luxury private residences
The Project

Charters Ascot, UK, is a development of luxury private residences in the grounds of a mansion house. The requirement was to supply underfloor, secondary heating to the living areas to supplement the main warm/cold air-conditioning, and fully integrate it with the building management system. There was also a requirement to provide heating to bathroom areas.

Key Challenges

Finding an energy efficient, easy to install solution, which would keep the floor height to a minimum.  A solution for wet areas, and for all areas, systems which could be integrated with the building management system.

Solution

T2Red heating cables and T2Reflecta insulation boards provided the right combination of comfort - even heat distribution across the entire floor surface - flexibility for further room decoration and reduced installation time. The floor heating system was integrated with the BMS, meaning no individual controllers were required. With the ease of use that comes with the T2Reflecta underfloor heating product this meant a great reduction in installation time and a reduction in onsite costs for the contractors.
